How i Made 12,564.74$/year as a 16 Years Old Full-Time Student
Yeah you heard me right i was already making 1K/mo by the time i was 16 years old !
What would you do with an extra 12,000$ added to your salary? I can tell that sounded interesting for a lot of people.
Sounds a little too good to be true, right?
I mean how did a kid from Morocco (North Africa) made an engineer salary (in Morocco) as a full-time student. It sounds crazy believe me, but you’ll be amazed of the potential of starting an online business.
Well let me walk you through the journey.
It all started when i saw people making BIG money on Instagram through this business model that was new at the time. It was Dropshipping. You may ask what the heck is Dropshipping?
Now Dropshipping is this business model where you sell products that you don’t own. How does it work? Let me explain this model in an easiest way.
You visit a supplier website, you find an item at a certain price (let’s say 20$) but the catch is you don’t buy the item, instead you go list it for a higher price on another website. This way you don’t have to handle the shipping, inventory management and other annoying stuff.
Dropshipping from Aliexpress to Ebay :
I chose to start dropship on Ebay, because you don’t have to look for customers (they’re already there) and it doesn’t cost any monthly fees (unlike the next method that i’m going to talk about).
Aliexpress is probably the best supplier to start with if you’re a total beginner which is probably the case. Why is that? Well there is big variety and the prices are relatively cheap in comparison to other suppliers (Amazon, Walmart, ….).
Notice: Ebay have limited listings but you can request more listings by a simple phone call with the support service.
I sat every day after school in front my computer listing all different items for like 3 hours. After a month i started seeing results. It was just 100$, but i was proud i started making money being that young while others are going out, having fun and not caring about their future.
Investing in myself :
This is the SMARTEST choice i made until this day. I was spending all my money that i made online learning new skills (mainly marketing and advertising), buying books and acquiring knowledge. I was not going for that brand new Iphone, impressing the girl that i like or buying designer clothes.
Instead i chose to work and build myself, and that made me go from a few hundred bucks a month to 1,000$ a month.
Creating my own E-commerce store :
I started my own store so i can focus on a specific niche (a small group of people that show the same interests), instead of going general selling all kind of products. I started my store on this platform called Shopify.
The hardest thing with this method is that you don’t have customers, so you have to bring your own. You may be asking how to that?
Well this is where i put my marketing skills to use. Firstly, i started by paying small influencers to advertise the products, then i switched to Facebook Ads because the first method was not converting well.
So basically the process was: finding products on Aliexpress, listing them for 5 times higher on my store (to cover Shopify, Hosting and Ads costs), getting orders then going to Aliexpress to actually buy the products for the people that ordered on my website.
Note: Make sure to buy the items on Aliexpress as a gift so the seller won’t mention the price or the source (supplier) which in this case Aliexpress!
You can totally start this online business as a side hustle, but you can improve, grow and scale it into 100,000$/year and maybe even quit you job.
